Some people may be put off by the word “refurbished” but what does a refurbished product actually entail?
There are lots of reasons why a product can be labelled as factory refurbished. Some are so minor, it’s impossible to distinguish from new. Here are a few reasons:
- Many High Street retailers offer a no quibble money back guarantee on their products and there are some customers that just simply take advantage of that. These items are returned to the manufacturer, inspected and repackaged.
- Items where the outer box was damaged in shipment, these are returned to the manufacturer, checked and repackaged.
- The item was returned to the manufacturer because of a slight defect. The part that was defective was replaced by the manufacturer, tested and then repackaged.
- The item was returned because of a minor cosmetic blemish on the casing. This is returned and corrected.
- Demonstration units are also considered factory refurbished. These units are inspected, tested and repackaged.
It is impossible to know the history of each item, but for whatever reason the unit gets labelled factory refurbished, it is inspected & serviced by the manufacturer then tested and repackaged to meet original product specifications.
However because consumer law prevents manufacturers from selling anything considered factory refurbished as "new", the 2nd consumer can take advantage of these massive savings on equally good products.
There is even the suggestion that the quality of a refurbished PC is superior to a new one, as we know that every refurbished PC is fully tested by the manufacturer. Not every new PC is tested as it comes off the production line!
And finally, to prove that we believe firmly in the quality of these refurbished PCs, they even come with a 1 Year On-Site warranty. So in the unlikely event of a malfunction you have piece of mind knowing that an engineer will come to your home or workplace to either repair or replace it there and then.
